Should you or your organization be in Second Life?
The Gartner Group predicts that more than 80% of all online users will be immersed in a 3D web environment by late 2011. General Motors, Coca Cola, Dell, Cisco, SAP, Microsoft and many other corporations are
already there. Credit courses are being offered by more than 25 institutions of higher learning. There are many nonprofits in Second Life that are extending their real world reach through a collaborative region
called Plush Nonprofit Commons.
With an average user age of 36 and a membership growing by 20,000 a day SL is reaching the marketing sweet spot. Memberships have grown from 1.2 million in October 2006, to more than 6
million today. Thirty percent of new members are from countries other than the U.S., so your presence can reach an international audience.
Everything in SL is user-created from simple tools provided by Linden Labs, the developers and owners of the enabling software and hardware. There is in-world commerce that exceeds
$1.5 million per day, with SL banks, realtors, and contract lawyers! You may choose between mature or PG worlds, or purchase your own region and manage it securely for your target audience..
Second Life is the first commercially successful 3D environment that is NOT a game.

Campfires Foundation (DCF), that is a leader in the region. DCF collaborates with the other NP's in SL to help
meet its mission of bridging the socio-digital divide. There is fully functional holodeck in Space 8 at this location that was installed by GA and is used extensively by other NP's on the sim.
